So I had a thought recently.

I know I don't have a ton of followers at this point (something of a resolution for me to address this year), and I tend to be sporadic in my updates (see: 2012 - tons during the spring, then fell off after that - also something I'm working on being more consistent with).

That being said, I was thinking of a way of promoting fellow perler/hama/bead sprite artists with a weekly (that's the plan anyway) featurette.

This would probably require (or at least be majorly helped by) a couple of things.

First would be a DA Subscription.  Don't worry, I'm not asking/begging for subs.  This would be something I would totally handle, as I have been seriously considering it anyway.  A subscription would allow me better customization of my profile page as well as the ability to put thumbnails in my journal pages.  I mean, even without a sub, I can still promote fellow artists, it just feels a lot less exciting if all I can do is post a text link to their DA page.

Second would be more work on my part to promote my DA page.  In the past, this has generally just been a reserve place for me to post occasional things I wanted to share, but as you may have noticed, I have gone long periods of time without uploading.  So I would have to a) upload more regularly to (hopefully) gather more followers, or at least visitors and b) more actively promote my DA page in general.  I've always been kind of a laid back, they'll come if they come, person, but it's something I can work on.

Criteria for who will be featured is at this point pretty vague and arbitrary - whomever I feel like promoting at that time.  Most likely it will be someone who either has an amazingly complex/large piece of work, someone who has a large gallery of quality work but maybe not one big standalone, or someone who regularly creates work that isn't just copying of an official sprite (perhaps I'm a bit biased since I've been making my own sprites lately, but there's a bit more involved in turning a non-sprite into a perler piece than copying a sprite from Super Mario World or Metroid or Pokemon).  Like I said, it will be pretty arbitrary.  The only guideline that I MAY consider is that the rest of their DA page not have any adult content, as I would like to be able to send ANYONE to that page and not worry about kids seeing non-perler-related naughties by accident.  However, I may also just go with a NSFW guideline.  I dunno.  Haven't decided.

So anyway, just some thoughts swirling in my head.  For those of you that do still follow me, and who would actually read this, any thoughts?  Something you would be interested in, or would you rather not have your notifications hit every week with "HEY GUYS, CHECK OUT THIS BEAD WORK!"?

I do a little bit of everything. Well, not everything. I'm a cake decorator by trade, a budding perler bead artist (perlerer?) by hobby, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE colored pencils. I guess my decorating makes me semi-decent at airbrushing, though I'll admit I've never done airbrushing that wasn't on a cake.

My personal drawing style is to chibi-fy everything, and my biggest inspiration is Koge Donbo.

Perler commissions are technically open, but no one's ever asked me. My starting point for pricing is $5 per board for 1-4 boards, plus whatever shipping would cost. Anything bigger than that would have to be negotiated and shipping might cost more because large perlers are hard to ship. I'd like to think that's reasonable, and I'm not going to charge a full board's price if the piece is barely on it. If you have something in mind, let me know.
